[Dominik Wujastyk]

Working from memory, Chandrabhal Tripathi's wonderful catalogue of the 
Jain collections at Strasburg has a good general introduction to Sanskrit 
and Prakrit codicology, and I think he describes this sign.  I also recall 
that it is called kalasha "pot" in scribal traditions.
