Sri Lankan moonstones

I am conveying this query to INDOLOGY on behalf of my friend Frank
Hoffman at Penn. Apparently Von Schroeder asserts that Sri Lankan
moonstones were used in some sort of footbathing ritual, but does not
support this claim with any references or citations. Does anyone on
this list have any information or pointers to other sources of
information that might have a bearing on this question? Many thanks
