Hello Patrick,

The most recent contribution is the excellent volume by Borayin Larios (which began as his dissertation). I will have up-to-date bibliography:
https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/9783110517323/html (open-access PDF)

Michael Witzel has written on this, most recently (though based on a 1986 original version in German):
Witzel, Michael. 'Agnihotra Rituals in Nepal', in Richard K. Payne, and Michael Witzel (eds), Homa Variations: The Study of Ritual Change across the Longue Durée
, Oxford Ritual Studies Series (New York: OUP, 2016), 371–406. https://doi.org/10.1093/acprof:oso/9780199351572.003.0014.
   and
https://www.academia.edu/43672875/Vedic_Medieval_and_Contemporary_Concepts_in_the_Nepalese_Agnihotra_Ritual?sm=a

I wrote a couple of pieces on this topic two decades ago. The bibliography of those will include other relevant publications to that point, especially by Fred Smith:
https://www.academia.edu/408379/Veda_on_Parade_Revivalist_Ritual_as_Civic_Spectacle
https://www.academia.edu/408637/Science_Patriotism_and_Mother_Veda_Ritual_Activism_in_Maharashtra
(I also shot video (alas, still only raw footage) of an agnihotra performed in Warje Malwadi, Pune in 2002 or so.)

From around the same era:
Cezary Galewicz. 2003. “A Keen Eye on details. Reviving ritual perfection in Trichur Somayaga.” Bulletin d'études indiennes 21 (1): 239-253.

And of course Staal, Agni.

Subject: [INDOLOGY] vedic revival

Dear Friends,

I'm compiling a bibliography and would appreciate any suggestions on books, chapters, sections, films, YouTube clips, and any other related media.

The topic is "Vedic Revival / Vedic Revivalism".

I have compiled references that mostly cover the contemporary manifestations of this phenomenon, though I am sure there might be things I've missed.

If there are any recommendations on particular references to earlier, historical periods, then I would be delighted to know what these might be.

If there certain thematic groupings one might apply, please let me know.

These references could be in any language, not being restricted to English.

Thank you in advance.

All the best,
