[INDOLOGY] Query on verse forms

In my naivety I have always assumed that kātai (from Skt gāthā) in the titles of the Cilappatikāram is a translation of Tamil pāṭṭu, "song", as in Pattuppāṭṭu, which latter collection is made up of "long" poems like the Cilappatikāram chapters and as such differs from, for instance, the Kuṟuntokai.
