Friends: Devaṇṇabhaṭṭa in his Smṛticandrikā (Mysore edition, p. 40; Gharpure ed. p. 18) commenting on the term śreṇi says: śreṇyo rajakādyaṣṭādaśahīnajātayaḥ | Does anyone know the identity of these eighteen lower castes? Thanks. Patrick
