Position of a Language Teacher (Modern South Asian Languages) at the 
Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies, University of 
Vienna

 

The Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies, Faculty of 
Philology and Humanities (ID No. 13/252-06/07/BM), announces the vacancy 
of the position of a language teacher (modern South Asian languages) and 
invites applications. Employment will start on June 1, 2007.

The contract will be limited to June 30, 2009.

*Extent of position*: 100%

*Requirements*: University degree (M.A.) with a focus on a modern South 
Asian language. Teaching experience in the discipline is required.

*Additional qualifications*: Teaching competence in Hindi and Nepali; 
familiarity with the literature and literary history of these languages. 
Applicants should be proficient in German or ready to acquire competence 
within the span of two years; good knowledge of English is required.

*Tasks*: Teaching of Hindi and Nepali for beginners and advanced 
students (12 hours a week during term). Conception and development of 
course materials for these two languages. Assistance in complementing 
library for modern South Asian languages. Participation in training 
courses for the improvement of university teaching.
