DIRECTOR, SOUTH ASIA INSTITUTE
The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the 
position of Director of the South Asia Institute. The University of 
Texas has made the South Asia region a priority for the entire 
institution. The Institute draws its members from across the various 
schools, colleges, and departments. Faculty with a South Asia 
concentration now number more than 50. The Institute houses the Title 
VI National Resource Center for South Asia and several endowments. 
The Director will be charged with providing leadership in making the 
University of Texas South Asia program the strongest in the world. 
The focus for new initiatives will be contemporary South Asia. 
Resources will be made available to make several new faculty 
appointments in areas such as economics, politics, ecology, public 
health, economics of international labor trends, globalization, 
security, international
trade, demography, geography, communication, energy, environment, 
education, and information technology. We are seeking candidates with 
demonstrable leadership and administrative skills, excellent networks 
in the business and/or policy arenas. Ph.D. preferred but not 
required.
