When he died, the newspapers reported that the earth shook and the
sky became dark. Which was indeed true.

I have seen a painting showing a vimana emerging from the
Mahatma Gandhi's pyre, with the Mahatma  inside, ascending
to heaven. I've also seen him included among the avataras of
Vishnu in a painting.
