Most scholars would place the GItA BCE. (I don't think Nirad C Chaudhuri
carries a lot of weight as a Sanskritist.)   But the earliest reference to
"KRSNa son of DevakI" is considerably earlier--ChAndogya UpaniSad III.17.6.
