Colleagues,

The following is an announcement of a new scholarly society that may be 
of interest:

		*** SOCIETY FOR HINDU CHRISTIAN STUDIES ***

Founded in the Fall of 1994, the purpose of the Society is the study of 
Hinduism and Christianity and their interrelationships, both historical 
and contemporary.  The Society's Annual Meeting is held in conjunction 
with the American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature Annual 
Meeting, on Saturday morning.

The yearly membership fee outside of India is U.S. $20 (Can. $22) or U.S. 
$15 for students.  This fee includes a subscription to the 
_Hindu-Christian Studies Bulletin_, which has become the official 
publication of the Society.

Officers of the Society are: Francis X. Clooney, S.J. (Boston College), 
President; Vasudha Narayanan (University of Florida), Vice-President; 
Lance E. Nelson (University of San Diego), Secretary; Anantanand 
Rambachan (St. Olaf College), Treasurer.

Members of the Board of Directors are: K. L. Seshagiri Rao (University of 
Virginia), John B. Carman (Harvard Divinity School), and Bradley 
Malkovsky (University of Notre Dame).

Co-editors of the Hindu-Christian Studies Bulletin are Harold Coward 
(University of Victoria) and Anand Amaladass (Institute of Philosophy and 
Culture, Madras).
