Dear BCDSS colleagues and friends,

I would like to draw your attention to two calls for fellowship applications.

  • As in the previous funding period, we are inviting international researchers to apply for the BCDSS Heinz Heinen Fellowship Program — a program dedicated to bringing together outstanding scholars whose research focuses on different forms of strong asymmetrical dependency (SAD) and slavery across all historical periods and cultural contexts.
  • We also call for applications together with the BCDSS partner institution Beniba Centre for Slavery Studies at the University of Glasgow. Our joint research fellowship scheme seeks to support an early career scholar, scholar-activist or creative professional, based in the Caribbean, to pursue research into topics related to racialization, Black studies, the histories of slavery and abolition, indenture, ‘Liberated Africans’ and/or the afterlife of slavery with a particular emphasis on scholars working on these topics in a Caribbean context.

Please find both calls attached as well as via the following link: https://www.dependency.uni-bonn.de/en/about-us/vacancies-calls

We would appreciate if you could share these calls within your networks.

Please feel free to contact me in case of questions.

All best wishes

Sarah Dusend
