The Sanskrit Library would like to announce the following workshop.
Digital literacy for Sanskrit studies
Schedule: 21 – 23 August 2026.
Meeting times: Friday-Sunday, 8:30–10:00pm IST, 9:00–10:30am U.S. Central Time.
Fee: ₹500
Day 1 establishes where texts live and how to interact with digital scripts (SLP1, Unicode, digital dictionaries).
Day 2 solves the acquisition bottleneck: turning paper volumes and scanned PDFs into raw digital text.
Day 3 provides the academic gold standard for structuring that text for critical editions and long-term research.
- US101. Introductory Sanskrit I will begin Monday, 1 September.
- UP114. रघुवंश sarga 2 will begin Sunday, 1 September.
- US201. Selected readings in the Siddhāntakaumudī continues and can be joined by advanced students.
- UT102. Character and higher-level encoding will begin Saturday, 5 September to train Sanskrit students and advanced scholars in preparing navigable searchable digital editions of printed Sanskrit texts.
- UT110. TEI-conformant XML markup workshop guides those who have completed UT102 or otherwise have basic competency in TEI in preparing a TEI edition of a Sanskrit text. A special course is offered to Indian participants 6 September – 25 October 2026, Sundays, 9:00–10:30am U.S. Central Time, 8:30–10:00pm IST.8:30PM--10PM IST for ₹7500.
