The Glasenapp Foundation is pleased to announce the recent completion of the modernisation of the South Asia Research Documentation Services (SARDS 3) by Balthasar Pohlus.
The content of the database remains unchanged: it contains bibliographic records for articles on South Asian studies from journals, anthologies, conference proceedings and commemorative volumes.
However, the search and user interface have been completely redesigned. Here is what is new for you:
§ Transliteration: You no longer need to enter diacritical marks exactly. With the ‘Diacritic Insensitive’ option, a search for ‘siva’ will also find ‘Śiva’, and a search for ‘samkhya’ will also find ‘Sāṃkhya’.
§ Fuzzy search: The fuzzy search helps with typing errors or differing transcription conventions. If SARDS finds no exact matches, it automatically searches for similarly spelled forms.
§ Searches can be narrowed down: Short additions refine the query, such as author: Filliozat, year: 1990–2000, journal: ZDMG or keyword: Ayurveda. Quotation marks search for an exact phrase.
§ Suggestions whilst typing: Authors’ names, journals, anthologies and keywords are suggested as you type.
§ Data may be imported directly into reference management software: Results can be downloaded as BibTeX or RIS and imported into Zotero, Citavi or EndNote.
§ Eight-language interface (Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese and Spanish); also available on Tablets and Smartphones.
