This is unfortunately too true. And I think this points to one  best practice for etexts. I.e. include a link to the printed edition (copyright permitting) that the etext is based on.  One collection that follows this best practice is: The Resource Library for Dharmaśāstra Studies of the University of Texas at Austin. https://sites.utexas.edu/sanskrit/resources/dharmasastra/
