I am so sorry to hear this! Like Dagmar, it's a long time since I saw Maarten in person, but he was a valued and much-liked friend and colleague who did so much to throw light on the history of medicine in India. I think we might first have met in 1985 or so, when Jan Meulenbeld held a conference in The Netherlands.

My sincere condolences to you, Suzanne, and to all the family.
