Concept Note
The world is undergoing rapid changes in the knowledge landscape. The gap between the current state of learning outcomes and what is required must be bridged through undertaking major reforms that bring the highest quality, equity, and integrity into the system. World-class institutions of ancient India such as Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramshila, Vallabhi, set the highest standards of multidisciplinary teaching and research and hosted scholars and students from across backgrounds and countries. Buddhist literature is available in different languages. Do they have some content which can contribute to the Indian Knowledge System (IKS)? What is the take of Buddhist literature on topics such as what is knowledge and processes related to knowledge, knowledge creation, knowledge preservation, knowledge management, and knowledge dissemination? What are the different knowledge areas to which Buddhist literature has contributed and can contribute? It could be literary sciences, medicinal sciences, life sciences, technology and social sciences. There is a need to highlight the contribution of Buddhist literature to different areas of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS).
Sub-themes:
1. What is knowledge and what are its types?
2. Buddhist literature on knowledge creation, preservation, dissemination and management.
3. Contribution of Buddhist literature to Literary Sciences (such as Grammar, Lexicography, Prosody and Metrics), Health Science, Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Technology and Social Sciences (such as Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, Jurisprudence).
In this regard we would appreciate active participation of students from your department. In case of any query please reach out to dhammasakacchapbs@gmail.com
Thanking you,
Regards
