These quotations come from Kāvyaprakāśa of Mammaṭa (V.240). Mammaṭa sees ten suggested meanings (vyaṅgyo ‘rthaḥ) in the sentence "gato ‘stam arkaḥ".

Elsewhere (and that is relevant for me), gato 'stam arkaH is understood to suggest
- to Brahmins to perform their evening rituals or
- to traders to close their shops.
Could you, please, help me with quotations to these or similar effects.
