senasurā (śani or ṣani > sena [a of ṣani changes to e if a syllable with i follows] + surā = senasurā. It is a very common word which every Sinhalese refers to by any problem. Before they hang out such a flag, the astrologer studies their birthday pass (which includes the horoscope of the birthday) and advices him, that senasurā is probably the reason for his problem. All the flags I earlier wrote about start with his name (senasurā). I even found two shrines dedicated to senasura: an old bearded man, completely in blue colour and the crow at his side).

Dear Heiner, Thanks for clarification. How is senasurā to be understood? Best wishes, Asko

In pre-sanscritic times saturn is called ṣani (not śani). Today senasurā. śāni is my error.
