If it may be of interest to you, I just published a book on list-making in the context of Indian philosophy, in gnostic yogas more precisely. The first part is fully dedicated to theorizing list-making practices and taxonomy. I do not so much engage with listing names of deities however, but could refer you off-list to a literature that does this in other world traditions.
