Dear all,

I am currently investigating diamonds in rasaśāstra and ratnaśāstra and have come across variations on a myth regarding the formation of diamonds.

The basic story is that during the churning of the Ocean of Milk, the drops of amṛta that fell to the ground became diamonds. Some include details on Bali, the son of Diti while others don't.

I have thus far found only one myth that attributes diamonds to the lovemaking of Bhairava and Pārvatī.

My question is whether these myths appear in any of the Puraṇic literature or any other places I may not be aware of.

Thank you so much!
