Dear Indology colleagues,

At the 235th Meeting of the AOS in Boston this past Saturday, during the business meeting, the assembled members voted to continue our work under a new name: the American Society for Premodern Asia.

The Society’s venerable journal, published since 1843 as the JAOS, will continue from the next full volume in 2026 as the Journal of the American Society for Premodern Asia (JASPA).  The ASPA welcomes your participation in the annual meetings (Los Angeles in 2026, Chicago in 2027), and your submissions of your scholarship for publication in the Journal.

A new website with the domain www.aspa1842.org is in the works but until then you can continue to use www.aos-site.org.
