Dear colleagues,

I am happy to announce the publication of a critical (and diplomatic) edition, translation, and study of the only surviving work of poetics in Prakrit, the Alaṅkāradappaṇō, published by UniorPress (part of its Series Minor):

The Mirror of Ornaments (Alaṅkāradappaṇō): A Prakrit Work of Poetics
http://www.fedoabooks.unina.it/index.php/fedoapress/catalog/book/616

The book is open access and freely downloadable. I argue that this work (or one very similar to it) was one of the sources utilized by Bhāmaha in his Kāvyālaṅkāra, usually considered one of the earliest works of poetics properly speaking, and I will be interested to hear what the vihuaaṇa (= vibudhajana) think about it.

I also take this opportunity to thank the series editor, Francesco Sferra, and several colleagues who helped to make the book much better than it would otherwise have been (including Yigal Bronner and Csaba Dezső).

Andrew
