Dear Colleagues

It is my pleasant duty to inform you that the International Association of Sanskrit Studies has instituted five bursaries of US$500 each to financially support young scholars to attend the World Sanskrit Conference beginning from the one being held at Kathmandu in June 2025.

Applications were invited from eligible candidates and after careful consideration the Board of the International Association of Sanskrit Studies has decided to award the five bursaries to the following Ph.D. scholars :

Alessandro Giudice, University of Cagliari, Italy
Arpita Paul, Patna University, India
Chara Scroope, University of Queensland, Australia
Prabhat Kumar, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), India
Shaunak Pimputkar, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, India

The bursaries are designed to assist the winners to attend the World Sanskrit Conference. The IASS is firmly committed to fostering the next generation of Sanskrit scholars and we are delighted to be able to support these students as we recognise their potential to be the next generation of leaders of our discipline.

We also recognise and celebrate the importance of the World Sanskrit Conference as the most valuable venue for scholarly exchange in the field of Sanskrit Studies.

We believe that attending and presenting at the WSC is greatly beneficial for any aspiring Sanskritist and are happy to be able to support younger colleagues to take part in the conference.

On behalf of the IASS Board and in my personal capacity as President, I warmly congratulate all the winners and look forward to meeting you all in Nepal next June.

Best Wishes
Dipti S.Tripathi
