Some of you may have seen that the Archive.org has been attacked by a Denial of Service attack.  The data at Archive.org is safe.

There is more information below and there's an upcoming online conference next week, Library Leaders Forum,  where one can learn more.

Update: Ongoing DDOS Attack on Internet Archive

On Wednesday, the Internet Archive was hit by an ongoing distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. To keep our patrons, partners, and communities informed, founder and digital librarian Brewster Kahle has been sharing real-time updates on social media, as our blog is currently offline. The latest updates are as follows:
  • Update 1: Wednesday, October 9 @ 6:08pm PT
  • Update 2: Thursday, October 10 @ 3:36am PT
  • Update 3: Thursday, October 10 @ 2:08pm PT
  • Latest: Friday, October 11 @ 10:22am PT (shown above)
We are actively working to bring our services back online, and we will continue providing updates as we learn more. You can stay up to date by following our updates on Twitter/XBluesky or Mastodon.
We will also use next week's virtual Library Leaders Forum to share further updates with our community—more info below. Register now.

Have you secured your spot for our virtual Library Leaders Forum? We'll use the gathering next Thursday, October 17 @ 10am PT / 1pm ET to update our community about the recent attacks against our services, and highlight the programs we offer to libraries and the patrons they serve.

REGISTER NOW

Attendees will hear from Brewster Kahle, the founder and digital librarian of the Internet Archive, about the recent DDOS attack and what we're doing in response. You’ll hear from our policy team about the lawsuits against our library, and you’ll learn how you can take action on these fights. We’ll take a high level tour through key services that the Internet Archive offers to libraries and their patrons, and we'll highlight updates from our wider community of publishers, authors and library experts.

And you might be wondering...is this session only for librarians? NO! It's for anyone who is interested in learning how the Internet Archive works. While we're certainly going to focus on the Internet Archive's library services, we're going to cover projects and give updates that will be of interest to digital learners everywhere.

Busy schedule? Go ahead and register for the session to receive a link to the video and information shared during the discussion.
