The international research group MANTRAMS – Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia – at the University of Tübingen is seeking a highly skilled
Digital Humanist & Data Specialist (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 100 %)
limited until the 31.08.2030.
Key responsibilities:
- Data management
- Act as the project’s general data manager, overseeing the digital storage and processing of audiovisual files and texts.
- Create, maintain, and implement the research data management plan for the project.
- Guide the process of transforming research data to archival formats and support the cre-ation of required metadata for publishing and long-term archiving in the research data re-pository FDAT at the University of Tübingen.
- Website and Database development
- Design, implement, and maintain the project’s online database website “OMnibus of Man-tras,” which will serve as a sonic archive of original audio recordings and geo-tagged vis-ual documentation of mantra practices and artifacts in global Southern Asia.
- Training and support
- Support the project’s researchers in multimedia data and metadata acquisition, pro-cessing, and ingestion into the OMnibus web archive.
- Develop and conduct training workshops on research data management for researchers and develop necessary informational materials.
- Technical maintenance
- Maintain the project’s central file cloud storage, which will be deployed at the Digital Hu-manities Center at the University of Tübingen.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from a recognized university in a field pertinent to the digital hu-manities tasks described above
- Excellent reading, writing, and communication skills in English
- Proficiency in web design and development using cutting-edge web development frame-works
- Experience with relational databases and SQL (or other relevant languages).
- Experience with creating and managing metadata and implementing data management plans
- Experience with server administration and ability to adapt and expand existing database sys-tems
Desirable skills:
- Background or some formation in the Humanities
- Proficiency in German and one or more Asian languages
- Experience with audio and visual media processing
- Willingness to relocate to the Tübingen area
