Dear Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to attend in person or online our upcoming conference on Ethics and Philosophy of Extreme Fasting on Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1 in Bern. This event is a collaboration between the Department of Indology of the University of Tübingen and the Institute for the Science of Religion of the University of Bern.

This international conference is the first of its kind to explore a network of pertinent questions surrounding various types of extreme fasting practices from an interdisciplinary and transcultural perspective. The first two panels will deal with extreme fasting practices in religious and political contexts. The third panel connects the different case studies by offering a systematic comparison.
