I don't remember why I looked at this, but there is a late vāstuśāstra describing the way in which a library should be organised (I don't think we have much prescriptive information about this elsewhere, perhaps that's why I thought I should transcribe this in a note; I hope I'm wrong!).

caturaśrā śāstraśālā prāṅmukhāvaraṇatrayā || 20.30
madhye kalpavidhānena prakalpyā vedavedikā |
mukhabhadracatuṣkeṇa saṃyutāṅgaṇaśobhinī || 20.31
bahir āndhārikā yuktā vātāyanaśatojjvalā |
ekabhaumā tribhaumā vā śikhareṇāpi bhāsurā || 20.32
prathamāvaraṇe vedo dvitīyāvaraṇe smṛtiḥ |
