If anyone else uses Linux (how many of us could there be?) I wrote up some instructions on typing transliteration/Devanagari on Ubuntu, using xkb (part of the X windows system common to most Linux distributions, here: http://prakrit.info/keyboard.html

It is free to use, but please retain the source / designer name: "© Piotr Balcerowicz", also when you modify the file.
