The Department of Middle Eastern, South Asia, and African Studies at
Columbia University is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Scholar
in Digital Humanities with a focus on Sanskrit for a one-year
appointment beginning
July 1, 2015. Candidates should have received a PhD in Indian Studies or related field in the last five years (between
July 1, 2010 and July 1, 2015).
The
candidate must have demonstrated competence in Sanskrit, teaching
experience, and experience with digital projects. Teaching duties
include one course per semester in the Department, one undergraduate,
one graduate. Digital responsibilities include the production and
maintenance of digital texts in Sanskrit and Prakrit for SARIT,
including the addition of TEI-XML encoding to plain text, and
coordinating the development of the SARIT web application.
