Really, preparation of the digital version of the complete set of EC or EI makes sense if is supposed preparation (at least) the texts of the published inscriptions in a textual format.  Including because in digital option (graphic scans) they already are available. Whether it is known to you that the similar project was realized earlier in India under the chairmanship of Professor S.  Settar (I participated in discussion of this project at the initial stage) ?  Concerning EI - such project was realized by me.
But creation of EC version in textual format (even only as a transliterations of inscription) demands serious special scientific work.  There are many mistakes made at different stages of preparation and the publication of inscriptions. Articles of authors of publications are very interesting and useful, also.
