Dear Colleagues,

I was saddened to learn only yesterday of the passing of one of the great Indologists of our time, Professor J. Duncan M. Derrett, several months ago.  Since I did not see a notice of his death posted here, I thought I would at least bring it to the attention of the list.  Professor Werner Menski has written a poignant obituary to which I link below.
