karuṇa ‘melancholy, sad’ ex. karuṇavipralambharasa

karuṇā ‘kindness, pity’, ex. karuṇā as a brhmavihāra

Friends~

Are karun and karunA two different words?

Does karun mean pathos and karunA compassion?

Any help from Sanskritists would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.
