[INDOLOGY] Question on e-Conference/e-Tourist Visas for India

Dear colleagues,

I realise that similar threads already circulated on this forum in the
past, but I wanted to get some feedback on more recent experiences on this
question if you do not mind:

I am currently co-organising an international conference in Mumbai (January
2027, 11-13th) and I would like to hear your thoughts on whether an
e-Tourist or an e-Conference visa seems preferable. Indeed, the latter
requests a ministry clearance that itself requires collecting data from all
participants and waiting for approval for a while before we can even issue
invitation letters to each of the delegates to then apply for Visa; but the
former might not be advisable at all in this case. Unless some of you have
good feedback on going to conferences with an e-Tourist visa?

Any thought on this would be highly welcome!

Many thanks in advance,

Marie-Helene
