Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to share the good news that we are now ready to launch an open access Journal of Sanskrit Studies (STS), published by Sanskrit Text Society (STS), hosted online through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform with the aim of ensuring wide accessibility, scholarly transparency, and global academic engagement.

We have great dreams for the Sanskrit Text Society, a global initiative (a charity registered in UK), but first and foremost we are launching 1) an open access journal, and then 2) a series of editions and translations of Sanskrit texts. We aim to launch first volumes of books around January 2027, first printed in India, and made available open access on our webpage after 2 years (negotiation for printing and distribution in India is going on).

Here is our website for the society https://www.sanskrittextsociety.com/home.html
The journal page is here on a tab: https://journal.sanskrittextsociety.com/index.php/JSS, and our editorial team here: https://journal.sanskrittextsociety.com/index.php/JSS/editorial-board

Journal of Sanskrit Studies (JSS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal devoted to the study of the entire corpus of Sanskrit literature including epigraphical materials and historical documents, and all intellectual traditions across the cultural history of South Asia. JSS publishes original scholarship on all genres of Sanskrit Studies and Sanskritic intellectual traditions. It also welcomes research works involving other classical languages of Asia in conjunction with Sanskrit textual materials, for example, works in Maṇipravālam style, Chinese and Tibetan translations of Sanskrit works, Sanskrit commentaries on Tamil or Prakrit works, or Newar renderings of Sanskrit texts.

In addition to standard research articles, JSS publishes:

  * Critical editions of unpublished Sanskrit texts (chapter by chapter)
  *   Manuscriptological studies
  *   Annotated translations
  * Short textual notes and observations

All content is published in open access under a Creative Commons license.

Please submit your papers online whenever ready: https://journal.sanskrittextsociety.com/index.php/JSS/about/submissions. We are ready from our side and our first papers are already under review.

Please send your advice and suggestion regarding the STS, book proposals for our book series to contact at sanskrittextsociety.com<mailto:contact at sanskrittextsociety.com> or sanskrittextsociety at gmail.com<mailto:sanskrittextsociety at gmail.com>

With best regards,
Diwakar
On behalf of the trustees and fellows of the STS
