Join Dr. Melanie Barbato
<https://www.linkedin.com/in/melanie-barbato-342494110/>, Lecturer at RWTH
Aachen University, Germany, for an insightful academic session hosted by
FLAME University’s India Centre.
The session titled 'Thinking Interreligious Studies from an Indian Vantage
Point' aims to explore how interreligious studies might be reimagined when
the Indian experience is placed at the center—not merely as an object of
study, but as a conceptual vantage point. Drawing attention to India’s
historical absence of a singular notion of “religion” alongside its rich
traditions of dialogue, debate, and plural engagement, the talk reflects on
how ideas of inter-religiosity, dialogue, and research can be understood
differently from within the Indian context.
The session offers thoughtful perspectives on interreligious dialogue,
conceptual plurality, and the negotiation of religious identities,
contributing to a growing and evolving field of scholarship.
