Asian Theory Announcement

The Asian Theory Academic Press is proud to announce the online release of a newly conceived academic platform devoted to the interdisciplinary study of humanistic theory directly or indirectly related to Asian languages and traditions. Meant as an outlet for scholarly multimedia productions and publications, the Asian Theory Academic Press is an entirely open access and non-profit resource. The platform is built in an innovative multimedia format embracing the fusion of academic writing with various audiovisual forms of art, interviews, recordings, and documentaries to be released incrementally. The first short release of contents has already taken place on October 2, 2025, and will be followed by weekly installments to be announced on the web portal ahead of time at the address asiantheory.org<https://asiantheory.org/>

The initial stage of the web portal is launched as a beta-version, that is, a version that allows for a fledgling academic endeavor to unfold gradually and perfect its technical aspects over time. We therefore request the reader to bear with eventual small navigational issues and instead focus on the academic contents of the website, which promises riveting scholarship and cutting-edge ideas from the multiple scholars who are contributing to the publications on the platform.

The design and functions are constructed in a manner, where the viewer is encouraged to give time for every page to open fully up for the intended viewing experience. For complete immersion into the complex design, the reader is advised to display the platform in full view by slowly scrolling through the pages to let the features unfold. Moreover, navigating the site through automated elements or scrolling is encouraged to be done very slowly due to the complexity of the coded constituents. To appreciate the extent of the mechanics of the design, it is necessary to view the site only on desktop or laptop computers and not on tablets or phones. The current version is functioning optimally on the Chrome browser.

To enter the contents, click on the logo. From there on, use the grey pillar to return. The first essay consists of three sections opening up gradually, so make sure to scroll once or twice extra to reach the next section.

In this announcement, we are especially happy to declare that the first book soon to be published on the Asian Theory platform is the edited volume Across Text and Source: Dialogism of Literature and History. The volume is a result of a decade of research and textual production done by twenty-three international scholars from a wide range of fields of literary and historical theory, as well as Asian, medieval, and classical studies.

We wish you a pleasant exploration!

With best regards,
Ulrich Timme Kragh
On behalf of the team of the Asian Theory Academic Press
