Also of note is pīṭhanyāsa--one of the six main nyāsa rites of the Śrīvidyā
tradition. It is referenced in the first verse of the first chapter of the
Nityāṣoḍaśīkārṇavatantra and comes in various forms of which
catuṣpīṭhanyāsa is a standard practice based on the four main Kaula pīṭhas:
Kāmāgiri, Pūrṇagiri, Jālandhara, and Oḍḍiyāṇa pīṭha (often referenced as
KĀ, PŪ, JĀ, and O). For a preliminary analysis of this nyāsa, and
its relation to other forms internal Kaula yoga, see notes to the seventeen
verse of the Cidvilāsastava of Amṛtānanda (2023, 49-54).
