The Seminar on the Mahābhārata and Classical Hinduism will be participating in the Online June sessions on June 24–26, 2025, so you may submit proposals for either the online sessions or the in-person November sessions. Note that as a Seminar, we circulate complete papers a month before the meeting to all who express an interest in reading them, then discuss each paper for 30 minutes at the meeting. All proposals must be submitted through AAR's PAPERS<https://papers.aarweb.org/> system. The deadline is Monday, March 3, 2025. Detailed instructions are provided here<https://papers.aarweb.org/sites/default/files/uploads/PAPERS_Instructions.pdf>. Our call for proposals is below:

In its fifth year, the Mahābhārata and Classical Hinduism Seminar invites proposals on a wide array of topics, which might also integrate the President's theme for the year, "Freedom". Welcome are discussions of class, caste, and slavery; God, gods, and goodness; gender, sex, and asceticism; as well as Mahābhārata and pedagogy. How does the Mahābhārata teach? How do we teach the Mahābhārata? We encourage proposals on a range of these and other interests, prioritizing those who did not present in the preceding year (2024).

We look forward to reading proposals.

Bruce M. Sullivan & Arti Dhand, co-chairs of the Seminar
