Dear all,
a colleague just reminded me how important it is to keep an eye on how scripts are being encoded for use on computers. A new version of Unicode will be released in September and the beta review opened<https://blog.unicode.org/2024/05/unicode-160-beta-review-open.html> on Tuesday for comments until end of June. It is the last chance to raise any issues. Here are the new Indic scripts coming:
Recently invented scripts:
* Gurung Khema (for Gurung) https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2022/22157-gurung-khema-script.pdf
* Kirat Rai (for Bantawa) https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2022/22043r-kirat-rai.pdf
* Ol Onal (for Bhumij) https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2022/22151r-ol-onal-script.pdf
* Sunuwar by Jentich https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2021/21157r-sunuwar.pdf
Historical scripts:
* Tulu-Tigalari (mostly for Sanskrit) https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2022/22031-tulu-tigalari-prop.pdf
(As a bonus, there is also Burmese numerals for Eastern Pwo Karen and Pa’O https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2022/22046-myanmar-numerals.pdf)
If you have any concerns about any of these, please get in touch.
Best regards,
