Regarding our possible pedagogical redundancy:

Bhagavad-gītā:
14.6 tatra sattvaṃ nirmalatvāt prakāśakam
14.7 sattvāt sañjāyate jñānaṃ

I take this to mean that there is a unique, inspiring, and irreplaceable role for the virtuous teacher.
