Dear Friends,

A colleague is working on exploring any possible direct or indirect links (also through Persian, Greek or Arabic translations of primary Sanskrit works) between the early development of computers and any known Sanskrit literature (specifically in the domains of nyāya, pāṇini, gaṇitaśāstra).

Did any of the key known figures Jacquard, Boole, Babbage, De Morgan et. al. have any influence from concepts that were existing in Sanskrit works?

If there are any scholars who have specifically explored this that would be interesting too.

I have already reached out to Dr. Geoffrey Hinton the great-great-grandson of Mary Everest Boole, who reported no known links that he is aware of.

With warmest wishes,

Martin
