[INDOLOGY] caesura (yati)

For the yati in Kāvya, see also:

A.A.E. van der Geer, The Bhāsa Problem: a Statistical Research into its solution.

It is a study into the yati in the plays attributed to the playwright Bhāsa. The idea was that one author, in case Bhāsa, was consistent in in use of emjambement, an assumption which, however, is not borne out by the plays attributed to Harṣa. Nevertheless, the study discusses a lot of material, however, as said, mainly restricted to verses in plays.

Dear Christian, in addition to Sheldon Pollock's superb and detailed discussion mentioned by others, I might (without due humility) mention my own The Abominable Yati https://www.academia.edu/61983071/The_Abominable_Yati<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.academia.edu%2F61983071%2FThe_Abominable_Yati&data=05%7C01%7Ch.j.h.tieken%40hum.leidenuniv.nl%7C331ba484480d42fa8e0408dad6ecf7f4%7Cca2a7f76dbd74ec091086b3d524fb7c8%7C0%7C0%7C638058610897340202%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=OvTiFLfF3m4gsEqCWCsuWgOEIaujrUujufSuaEGjufU%3D&reserved=0> on certain anomalous caesurae.
All the best,

Dear List Members,

do you know any relevant studies etc. on caesurae (yati) in Sanskrit
metrics? I'm espacially interested in how strict they have to be
followed and to what extend they are or may be disobeyed.

Thank you,
