[INDOLOGY] Altar of Fire / goats

In some temples, e.g. Lori Mata temple in Narwar (Shivpuri district,  
Madhya Pradesh),
not a whole goat but only its ears are to be given in sacrifice.
Looks like a very recent development. I saw it for the first time in 2002.
