[INDOLOGY] "Caste passing"

Dear Manu,

There are castes who have called themselves Kṣatriyas even though other castes do not recognize them as such. There have also been several rulers in many dynasties who performed Hiraṇyagarbha to become Kṣatriyas. Do they count?
