New Year greetings to all! Can anyone throw light on "mahākaccha" -- it is some kind of divinity, and M-W gives "Varuṇa" as one meaning, possibly because of the association with water. The term occurs several times in the Arthaśāstra (3.16.38; 4.3.12, 15). Thanks. Patrick Olivelle
