Palmes Académiques décernées au Pandit S. SAMBANDAN


En reconnaissance à sa contribution exemplaire au développement de la
recherche en Indologie, notamment à l?Institut Français de Pondichéry (IFP),
le Pandit S. SAMBANDAN s'est vu remettre les Palmes Académiques par Son
Excellence M. Jérôme BONNAFONT, Ambassadeur de France en Inde, à l?occasion
d?une réception  qui fut tenu pour cela, le 7 janvier 2009 au Consulat
Général de France à Pondichéry.



Le Pandit S. SAMBANDAN a  rejoint l?IFP en 1969.  Sous la direction du
Pandit N.R. BHATT, il a contribué de manière importante à la collecte et à l
?étude des manuscrits shivaïtes sur feuille de palme, préservés à l?IFP et
récemment  enregistrés dans le registre de la Mémoire du Monde de l?UNESCO.
Il a aussi dès son arrivée, participé activement à la préparation d?éditions
critiques de Saivagama-s et il est actuellement responsable du projet
d'édition du Suksmagama

« Palmes Académiques » awarded to Pandit S. SAMBANDAN



In recognition of his exemplary contribution to the development of research
in Indology, notably at the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP), Pandit S.
SAMBANDAN received the "Palmes Académiques" award from His Excellency Mr.
Jérôme BONNAFONT, Ambassador of France in India, during a reception that was
held on that occasion on January 7, 2009, at the French Consulate in
Pondicherry.



Pandit S. SAMBANDAN joined the IFP in 1969. Under the supervision of Pandit.
N.R. BHATT, he contributed extensively to the collection and study of Saiva
manuscripts on palm leaves preserved at the IFP and recently registered in
the Memory of the World register of the UNESCO. He also, upon arrival,
actively participated in the preparation of critical editions of the
Saivagama-s, and he is currently in charge of the edition project of the
Suksmagama.
