Leiden Indological Summer School 2008

Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce the third Indological Summer School  
that will take place here in Leiden this year, from 27 July through 8  
August. The Indological program, offered within the larger framework  
of the Summer School in Languages and Linguistics at the Faculty of  
Arts, will be three:

Werner Knobl (Kyoto)
- An introduction to the language and poetics of the .Rgveda:  
selected hymns.

Werner Knobl
- An introduction to early Sanskrit prose literature: selections from  
Braahma.nas and Upani.sads.

Herman Tieken (Leiden)
- The Asoka inscriptions as source for the study of the ancient  
history of India.
