Dear Lars,
>What are the longest texts known to have been memorized verbatim?
>(Not retelling in the usual oral poetry way, but repeating word for word)
There are a very small number of monks in Burma today who are
recognized as having memorized the whole Pali Canon. That's more than
26M on my hard disk !
But I have no idea how accurate they are or how much they made use of
the written texts in learning.
