The Origins of OM or Omkar - A Hypothesis

> Om is called the BULL (best) of the mantrAs.

All the books translate 'chandasAm' and 'chandobhyo' as Vedas or mantras.  Any
one looked into the aspect that Om is the bull among the metres?  because
chandas also means metre.  If so, how exactly?
