Grave found that could be 5,000 years old

COLOMBO (Reuters) — Sri Lankan archaeologists have begun excavating 
a site believed to be of a 5,000-year-old human grave that was discovered by villagers in the south, the independent Island 
Newspaper reported Monday. 

The newspaper quoted the director of the archaeology department, 
Dr. Siran Deraniyagala, as saying the discovery was made about a 
month ago at a mining lagoon in Hambantota district, about 112 
miles southeast of the capital Colombo.
